Here Is Where We Meet
2017 - Ongoing
I set out to photograph and document my love for New Zealand botanical beauty and fuse it with my Persian heritage. My aim is to make compositions that are representative of a cross-culture society, a hybrid zone where one is constantly floating between different cultures. These artworks are printed on applied gold leaf and are unique one off pieces that cannot be replicated.
This series is inspired by the studies of Iranian philosopher and cultural theorist Dariush Shayegan, in which he explores and praises plural and fragmented identities. Traditional botanical illustration and Persian miniature painting influence the visual basis of this work.
